Queen Nefertari's tomb : The
Queen for whom the sun shines :
Long before Cleopatra humbled the ruler of Rome, an Egyptian queen held
power over the heart and soul of Ramses, Egypt's greatest pharaoh. In
the 12th century BC, a brokenhearted Ramses built a grand funerary tomb
for Queen Nefertari, "the Beautiful one," in the Valley of the Queens.
It's been exquisitely restored with the aid of an American endowment,
and is among the rarest sights in all Egypt: the only great tomb ever
built by a pharaoh for his late queen. Artistically, it is the closest
thing you could ever come to see the original Ancient Egyptian art in
all of its glory and finesse. Because of its fragile nature, only a
limited number of visitors are allowed entry each day. We are the only
company to include a visit to Nefertari's tomb in our daily program.
Because of the limited access we must rise early for our visit, appropriate
as Ramses named Nefertari "the one for whom the sun shines."
, then
transfer to your luxuriously appointed dahabiya.
Today as well , we visit :
Deir
El Medinah is on Luxor's west bank you get a totally different perspective
on ancient Egyptian life, at the ancient workers' settlement of Deir
el-Medinah. While most of the imposing stone monuments and sites of
Egypt honor the lives and after-lives of royalty, Deir el-Medinah gives
us unique and surprising insights into the ordinary citizens who constructed
and decorated the tombs.
Here
we'll see the excavated homes shared by laborers with their domestic
animals. These quarters were surprisingly large, with three good-sized
rooms, courtyard, kitchen, and even storage cellars. While ancient Egypt
might not have been a workers' paradise, we'll see that artisans and
builders were highly regarded in their community. We are proud to be
the only operator to offer regular visits to this singular ancient settlement
in its tour and cruise programs . We
tour today as well the magnificent temples of Medinet Habu , and the
Ramesseum .
Dinner is included at the legendary Old Winter Palace or one of the
other deluxe hotels/restaurants in Luxor .

8 - PETRA - AMMAN - Friday (BLD)
We’ll spend the entire day at Petra, the stunning
desert city hewn by the Nabateans from solid cliffs of pink and violet
sandstone. Petra was known in the bible as Sela, and rediscovered only
in 1812. You'll feel like Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark as
you penetrate into the city through a narrow sandstone gorge, the Siq,
and wander among the Temple of the Winged Lion, tombs, Roman theater,
and the imposing Treasury. Petra has a lot to tell. The visit starts
at the visitor’s center, where each person is assigned a Bedouin
guided horse for the journey to the entrance of the lost city. After
passing some tombs which are located outside the city, the visitor passes
through the SIQ, an immense crack in the Nubian sandstone. It is a winding,
one-kilometer-long fissure between overhanging cliffs that seem to meet
more than 300 feet overhead. Near the end of the passage, the SIQ, with
great style, makes one last turn and out of the gloom in towering brightness
appears Petra’s most impressive monument, el Khazneh - The Treasury.
This is one of the most elegant remains of antiquity, carved out of
the solid rock from the side of the mountain, is nearly 140 feet high
and 90 feet wide.
Beyond el Khazneh the visitor is surrounded on both sides by hundreds
of Petra’s carved and built structures, soaring temples, elaborate
royal tombs, a carved Roman theater, large and small houses, burial
chambers and much more. The Victorian traveler and poet, Dean Burgon,
gave Petra a description which holds to this day - “Match me such
a marvel save in Eastern clime, a rose-red city half as old as time.”
After that, we head to a bedouins camp to enjoy tea with the bedouins
before driving back to Amman and our hotel . Lunch is included enroute

Queen
Nefertari's Tomb Visit is Included - Long before Cleopatra
humbled the ruler of Rome, an Egyptian queen held power over the
heart and soul of Ramses, Egypt's greatest pharaoh. In the 12th
century BC, a broken-hearted Ramses built a grand funerary tomb
for Queen Nefertari, "the Beautiful one," in the Valley
of the Queens. It's been exquisitely restored with the aid of an
American endowment, and is among the rarest sights in all Egypt:
the only great tomb ever built by a pharaoh for his late queen.
Artistically, it is the equivalent of Tutankhamon's tomb. Because
of its fragile nature, it is no longer open to the public, access
is very limited to a few guests with permits , and ours is the only
tour to visit it as part of a normal itinerary . Because
of the limited access we must rise early for our flight and our
visit, appropriate as Ramses named Nefertari "the one for whom
the sun shines." Tomb
of Queen Nefertari : our visit to the Valley of the Queens allows
you this rare treat: a visit to the beautifully restored royal tomb
of Queen Nefertari, wife of Ramses II. Exquisitely restored with
the aid of an American endowment, it is among the rarest sights
in all Egypt: the only great tomb ever built by a pharaoh for his
late queen.
The romantic story of Nefertari and Ramses is best told by the great
temples at Abu Simbel ( south of Aswan in Nubia). On one, Ramsis
is seated with the gods and attended by his queen and daughters.
The other is dedicated to Queen Nefertari, who appears as Hathor,
the goddess of love, joy and fertility, symbolized by the benevolent
cow. Nefertari thus precedes Cleopatra, Helen, Roxelana, and the
Elizabeths of Russia and England as one of the world's great queens.
Your visit to Abu Simbel may be considered the highlight of your
Egyptian adventure. As you fly over and along the shore of Lake
Nasser, watching the sky lighten and the sacred sun rise above the
horizon. We try to book early morning flights to reach the temple
while the air is clean, clear and cool, and the sun's light still
golden—just right for photographs. We explore the huge temple
, admire its ancient aura and artistry, then retire to a comfortable
hotel for refreshments. In the larger temple, colossal figures of
Ramsis are seated with the gods and attended by his queen and daughters.
The smaller temple is dedicated to Queen Nefertari, who appears
as Hathor, the goddess of love, joy and fertility, symbolized by
the benevolent cow. PLEASE NOTE : Abu Simbel Temples tour ( when
listed in any of our tour program) starts from Aswan not Luxor,
we list the info as part of Queen Nefertari's story here.

Reviews and Guests Testimonials : Touring Israel and Jordan : Summer
2011:
Hi Omar. I'm sorry for the delay in writing to you about the Israel
& Jordan trip. It's been crazy since we got back ........ Arrival
at Ben Gurion: We were so surprised and thrilled to find someone from
the airport waiting for us near our gate, whisking us through all of
the security checks and out the side door to our waiting van. We looked
at each other and said "if this is how our whole trip is going
to be, this is great!!" It was so unexpected and really started
us off on the right foot, versus standing in the lines, which is what
we had been ready for. Every hotel was great. Thank you for hearing
our request and getting us some top-notch accommodations .....
The
guide in Jordan was awesome. We loved, loved, loved Ossama. Lots of
energy, knowledgeable, offering information all the time. He was very
intent on making sure that we enjoyed our visit, saw all of the interesting
stuff, got whatever pictures we wanted, and so on. He really wanted
us to tell everyone in the U.S. that Jordan was safe and nice to visit.
And I have!! :)
In Israel, our guide, Moses, had lots of experience
at navigating the sites, always getting us to the front of lines (we
didn't have many lines), going in the back way to save time, etc. With
a very full agenda, he did a good job of keeping us moving, but if we
wanted to stop for another photo or venture off to the side, he was
always accommodating. He helped us to choose items from menus, ordered
for us at restaurants when necessary and helped us with money situations.
We felt very comfortable with him.
we
had an amazing trip. I still think of it every day (even two months
later) . We talk about the trip every week when we go to lunch after
church. The agenda was perfect - we saw so many amazing sites that really
helped us to relate to our faith. Thank you for being so patient in
helping us to plan the itinerary to include every detail that we requested.
I'll
be in touch to hopefully plan our trip for next year! :)
Sincerely
- D. Johnson
p.s., thanks again for the very thoughtful birthday cake!

- Israel
and Palestine Everyone wants
to go to the holy land. In Israel and Palestine , faith and history
are all around
you, from the plains of Armageddon (Megiddo) to the Sea of Galilee,
from the Red Sea resort of Eilat to the sow-covered slopes of
Mount Hermon. Where else can you pray where the patriarchs prayed,
walk where Jesus walked, and see where Muhammed began a fabled
celestial journey? It's simply amazing: the Bible becomes your
guidebook as you approach the Western
Wall of Jerusalem's Temple, crowned by the magnificent Dome of
the Rock; or stroll along the Via Dolorosa, now a path through
a bustling bazaar, stopping for reflection at the Stations of
the Cross. The hilltop city of Jerusalem is your base for day-trips
to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus; Jericho, site of the famous
Biblical battle, now a busy Arab town; the Dead Sea, where swimmers
bob like corks in the mineral-rich waters; Masada, where a small
band of Jewish zealots held off the armies of imperial Rome. Israel
is much more than a place of pilgrimage, of course. Its Mediterranean
coast has long sandy beaches and bustling seaside resorts. The
Red Sea is among divers' favorite destinations for its abundance
of colorful underwater life. Archeological digs are active throughout
the country in summer, turning up ever more ancient cities. Whatever
your beliefs, Israel is a must-see.

Nefertiti
Turns Egypt Upside Down!!
The
first bloodless religious revolution against the established church
in Ancient Egypt
And the seat of power that rested with the priests in Karnak .
Nefertiti conducts the religious ceremony at the temple wearing
only a see-through cloak and thong-style panties
!

Nefertiti
Turns Egypt Upside Down!! 1350 BC - Queen Nefertiti is reported
to have led her Egyptian subjects on a wild spree of idol-smashing,
temple-destruction, and forced migration, all part of a campaign
of religious reformation. In Egypt a temple painting of a well-endowed
Nefertiti in a chariot, wearing only a see-through cloak and thong-style
panties, may explain why it was easy for Egyptian to follow her
to the end of the Earth.
"From
now on, there will be only one Deity, and that Deity is Aten, the
Sun Disc," she has commanded.
Reliable
sources in the Nile Valley report that all temples to gods other
than Aten have been closed, and that a hefty fine will be imposed
on anyone caught with an outlawed statuette.
Idols
are to be smashed immediately, and the shards turned over to the
priests of Aten.
"The
capital of Egypt will now be at Tel El Amarna," reads a decree widely
circulated in cuneiform on clay tablets.
"All priests are to settle within one hour's journey of the new
Temple to Aten. All bidders on public works contracts will likewise
have their head offices within the same specified distance."
Egyptian
leaders in exile have disputed the motives behind the upheaval.
"It's just a ploy to concentrate power and wealth in her hands and
those of her husband, Ikhnaton," stated one defrocked priest.
"Everybody knows that Nefertiti has risen to her position on qualities
that have nothing to do with religion.
She
isn't called Incarnation of Beauty for nothing," he added, referring
to the literal meaning of her name. The source asked not to be identified,
fearing reprisals. Tel El Amarna, Nile Valley, 2004 - from Paul
Glassman, special correspondent "Wow," commented Joe Shiner, an
agro-businesman from Des Moines, as he toured the main temple at
Tel El Amarna. "It's one thing to hear that Nefertiti was a real
beauty. But it's quite another to visit in person and learn the
real story." "Until I came here, I didn't know that she was behind
the idea of having only one god-even before the Hebrews and Christians
and followers of Mohammed.
"And
now that I see her picture, I can understand why people followed
her. This is not what I expected . . . not at all!" Mr. Shiner gestured
as he spoke to a temple painting of a well-endowed Nefertiti in
a chariot, wearing only a see-through cloak and thong-style panties.
"If
she was my queen, I'd follow her to the end of the . . . "
Mr. Shiner's comments were interrupted by the approach of his wife.
".......
( Nefertiti) the Heiress, Great in the Palace, Fair of Face, Adorned
with the Double Plumes, Mistress of Happiness, Endowed with Favours,
at hearing whose voice the King rejoices, the Chief Wife of the
King, his beloved, the Lady of the Two Lands, Nefertiti, May she
live for Ever and Always"
